Antrick Health Academy is committed to giving every student high-quality learning resources at their fingertips. Whether you need to brush up on English before a clinical placement, strengthen your reading, writing or numeracy skills, plan your career, or simply curl up with a great book between assessments, the resources below are yours to use, anytime.
Every link in this document has been vetted by our Academic Board. Every resource is free to access. If you would like a hand getting started, our Student Wellbeing Team is ready to walk you through any of them — just email wellbeing@antrick.edu.au.

Antrick In-House Library & Lounge
Right here on Level 5, we have our own dedicated library and lounge space designed for Antrick students to read, study, and relax between classes. Tucked beside the panoramic windows with views across the Yarra, the space combines a curated collection of physical books with comfortable seating, natural light, and a calm atmosphere that supports deep reading and quiet study.
Antrick Library & Lounge — Head Office, Melbourne
The Antrick Library & Lounge holds a hand-picked collection of current health, nursing, childcare, and academic books selected by our Academic Board and trainers. Browse clinical references, anatomy and physiology texts, paediatric and early-childhood resources, mental-health and wellbeing titles, study-skills handbooks, and a small fiction shelf for downtime. Comfortable lounge seating, study tables, charging points, and natural light from our full-height wrap-around windows make it the most popular quiet space on campus.

Who it’s for: All current Antrick students and staff. Visiting partners welcome by arrangement.
How to use it: Drop in any time during office hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm). New title suggestions are warmly welcomed; email wellbeing@antrick.edu.au with what you would like us to add.

Free Library
Beyond our in-house collection, every Antrick student is entitled to free membership at the State Library of Victoria and any participating Public Library Victoria branch. With a single free card you unlock millions of eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, journal articles, and streaming music — all accessible from your phone, tablet or laptop, wherever you are in the world.
State Library of Victoria
Free membership grants you online access to eBooks, audiobooks, journal databases (EBSCO, ProQuest, JSTOR), language-learning platforms, and clinical references. Sign up online with an Australian address; international students at our partner campuses can apply for an Affiliate membership through our Student Services team.

Who it’s for: All Antrick students, on shore and off shore.
How to use it: Register once with your Antrick student ID and use the same login across the SLV app, BorrowBox, and the Libby app for eBooks and audiobooks.
Public Libraries Victoria — Free & Online
A single sign-up gives you access to the full Free & Online catalogue: eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, journal articles, music streaming and movies. Especially useful for students balancing study with placement shifts.

Who it’s for: Students based in Victoria (on-shore cohort) and recent graduates.
How to use it: Join your local Victorian library branch online, then download the BorrowBox or Libby app to start borrowing instantly.
National Library of Australia — Online Access
The NLA collects, protects and provides access to millions of physical and digital records about Australia. Free online membership opens databases, eResources, and the TROVE search engine for assignment research and historical context.
Access: library.gov.au
Who it’s for: All Antrick students researching Australian health policy, history or culture.
How to use it: Register once online; use Trove (trove.nla.gov.au) as your starting point for any research assignment.
Language & Literacy
Strong reading, writing, and English skills are the bedrock of safe clinical practice. The platforms below are free, Australian-trusted, and designed for adult learners.
LLN Robot — Language, Literacy & Numeracy
LLN Robot is the trusted Australian online system for assessing and strengthening Language, Literacy and Numeracy skills against the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). It combines a confidential self-assessment with targeted practice activities, so you can build the exact skills you need for nursing notes, assessments, and clinical communication.

Who it’s for: Every Antrick student — a must at the start of every course.
How to use it: Email wellbeing@antrick.edu.au for more information – Complete the initial assessment within your first two weeks, then work through the practice modules in your own time. Your results stay confidential between you and the Academic Board.
Duolingo — Learn English (and Other Languages)
Free, bite-sized lessons that fit around clinical shifts and class. Especially useful for students whose first language is not English, or who want to build confidence in spoken clinical English before placements. Daily streaks, listening exercises, and speaking practice keep your language skills sharp. Duolingo is mobile-first — perfect for the train into the CBD.

Who it’s for: Students whose first language is not English, or any student wanting to learn an additional language for transnational placements.
How to use it: Download the Duolingo app, create a free account, and select your starting level. Aim for 15 minutes a day. Tell your trainer if you would like to share your progress — we celebrate streak milestones at our fortnightly Wellbeing sessions.
Reading Writing Hotline
A long-standing Australian institution, the Reading Writing Hotline is a free, anonymous phone and online referral service for adults wanting to improve reading, writing, numeracy, or computing skills. It also publishes free adult-level readers and worksheets written specifically for adult learners — perfect for building confidence without feeling like you’re reading a children’s book.

Who it’s for: Any adult student wanting confidential, anonymous help with literacy, numeracy, or basic computing.
How to use it: Visit the website to download free adult readers and worksheets, or call 1300 6 555 06 (within Australia) for a confidential referral to local support. The service is anonymous — no one needs to know you called.
ReadTheory — Reading Comprehension
ReadTheory is a free, adaptive reading-comprehension program that personalises every quiz to your current reading level. Over 1,000 short passages covering science, history, health, and everyday topics — each followed by a quick comprehension quiz. Ideal for building the close-reading skills you need to interpret clinical notes, patient histories, and academic articles.

Who it’s for: Every Antrick student — especially those preparing for academic reading-heavy units.
How to use it: Create a free student account, take the brief placement quiz, and aim for two or three 10-minute reading sessions a week. The system tracks your progress automatically.
Numeracy & Maths
Confidence with numbers underpins safe medication calculations, dosage conversions, vital signs interpretation, and shift documentation. These free, world-class platforms let you brush up at your own pace.
Khan Academy — Maths
Khan Academy’s library of standards-aligned practice and lessons covers maths from early arithmetic through to algebra, statistics, and trigonometry — 100% free. Each topic comes with short instructional videos, worked examples, and adaptive practice. Especially useful for medication-dosage maths, ratio/proportion calculations, and statistics for evidence-based practice.

Who it’s for: Every Antrick student needing a maths confidence boost — from basic arithmetic to research-level statistics.
How to use it: Sign up free, take the level placement quiz, then work through the recommended pathway. Start with the Arithmetic refresher if it has been a while since you did school maths.
Core Skills Profile for Adults (ACER)
Developed by ACER, the Core Skills Profile for Adults is a respected online assessment that identifies your literacy and numeracy levels against the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). Use the results to focus your study where it will help you most.
Access: acer.org/au/cspa
Who it’s for: Students who want a professional, ACSF-aligned benchmark of their literacy and numeracy.
How to use it: Speak to the Academic Board (academic@antrick.edu.au) if you would like to access this assessment as part of your individual learning plan.
Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF)
The Australian Core Skills Framework is the national standard for describing adult performance in learning, reading, writing, oral communication, and numeracy. Understanding your ACSF level helps you understand the language and maths expectations of your qualification — and where to focus your effort.

Who it’s for: Any student curious about the national framework that sits behind your assessments.
How to use it: Download the free ACSF guide from the website; ask your trainer or the Academic Board to talk you through which ACSF level your qualification sits at.
Study Skills & Career Planning
Knowing how to study is as important as what you study. These free Australian platforms build the meta-skills that turn good students into confident graduates and employable professionals.
Skillsroad
Skillsroad is a free Australian careers platform that helps you test yourself against 300+ specific careers, take a personality and skills quiz, and build CV, interview, and workplace readiness. Includes practical job-fit tools and a vast library of short articles and videos covering study strategies, time management, mental wellbeing at work, and career transitions — perfect alongside our biannual Workplace Seminar.

Who it’s for: Every Antrick student thinking about post-graduation careers, internships, or workplace skills.
How to use it: Create a free account, take the Job Fit Test and Career Quiz in your first term, then revisit the article library throughout your studies. Bring your results to a session with the Wellbeing Officer to build a personalised career plan.
Reading Writing Hotline — Adult Readers Library
Beyond the referral hotline, the Reading Writing Hotline publishes a free library of adult-level readers, worksheets, and study guides covering everyday literacy and numeracy scenarios — banking, health, work, transport, and more. Written by experienced literacy teachers, with content that respects adult learners.

Who it’s for: Students who prefer offline study, or who learn best with printed materials.
How to use it: Download and print the readers you find useful, or work through them on a tablet. Free for personal use; please credit the Hotline if used in study groups.
Khan Academy — General Learning
Khan Academy is more than maths. Its full catalogue covers grammar (great for academic writing), science (biology, chemistry, physics for foundational health knowledge), economics, computing, history, and standardised test prep — all free. A single account unlocks the lot.

Who it’s for: Any Antrick student wanting to brush up on broader academic foundations beyond their core unit.
How to use it: Browse the full course library, save the topics you find useful to your dashboard, and use the videos as 15-minute revision breaks between assessment work.
Additional Antrick Learning Supports
On top of the in-house library and external platforms, every Antrick student has access to the following in-house supports. Pair them with your free library and learning tools for the best results.
Wellbeing Officer
On site every Friday fortnight, 10am – 4pm. Book a session for help with adjustment concerns, time management, study planning, or referrals to specialist support. Off-shore students can arrange a FaceTime consultation. Email wellbeing@antrick.edu.au.
Registered Counsellor
Available on the 2nd Tuesday of each month for confidential one-on-one sessions covering adolescent issues, educational issues, relationship issues, adjustment issues, depression and anxiety, and stress and time management. Book at least one week in advance through the Wellbeing Officer.
Workplace Preparation Seminar
Free 4-hour seminar on the 1st Monday of June and November — covering recruitment, psychometric testing, resume writing, networking, interview skills, Australian workplace culture, and cross-cultural workplace differences. Certificate of completion provided.
Trainer Office Hours
Every trainer and assessor at Antrick holds open office hours each week. Ask your trainer for their schedule, or contact admin@antrick.edu.au to be connected.
Individual Support Plan (ISP)
Any student concerned about literacy, numeracy, or any aspect of their learning can request a confidential Individual Support Plan with the wellbeing team. The IsP combines your LLN Robot or ACER results with personalised goals, resource recommendations, and a check-in schedule with the Wellbeing Officer.
